Let's watch the stars as they disappear, as they fall from the sky

Watched the meteor shower last night and just came in from watching it tonight, it's always so wonderful seeing stars streak through the sky, it's so sudden, fleeting and brilliant. I consistently break into stupid smiles and feel a little jolt of excitement everytime I see a shooting star. Tonight I kept thinking of a couple lines from the only part of Hamlet I really like, 'this most excellent canopy, the air, look you, this brave o'erhanging firmament, this majestical roof fretted with golden fire'
Trite I know, but I love it, and it seems fitting.
I was ment to go to a Depeche Mode concert tonight at the Shoreline Ampetheatre, but it was canceled just last night, still bummed about it but watching the sky tonight seems to have made up for it a little.
I am resolved to update this blog more, even though no one else reads it, apparently, I like to at least put some things done in writing and releasing them into the miasma of the internet is good because it forces me to stay mostly positive. I think I've been too distracted with my twitter.
Well it is late and I have to wake up in about 6 hours, so I will say adeui.

Fire Arts Festival and Amanda Fucking Palmer

Everything was awesome, meaning it stuck awe into me. Super bonus got a copy of the book Who Killed Amanda Palmer signed by both Miss Palmer and Neil Gaiman, plus she used one of my pictures on her blog, even if it was a blurry one... and I took one of the same bit of her show perfectly in focus grr. Definitely going again next year, all the pictures are here I highly recommend looking at them all.

Incognito!

I instantly want to go "I say!" in a very posh accent when I put the monocle and mustache on. All made from an old broken record, because I'm too poor to buy proper supplies, destitution is the birth of recycling!

Oh hai blog I no u!

Neglected this blog, oops, anyway school over, went to London for a week, missing it again I do adore that city. All the pictures are here. Mostly of museums and such, didn't get a chance to just wander around and take pictures of interesting people and random things like that, sadly.
One of my paintings got accepted by the Marin County Fair, it's not my favourite, but it looks most like Paul McGann... almost exactly like the cover for one of his Doctor Who audios, it was eerie when I noticed the similarities. So lame.
I recently discovered Emilie Autumn, she is fab, her vioce sounds like Amanda Palmer, but more goth, and slightly electronic, with violins and harpsichord galore! So much tasty harpsichord, and Bach... plus she wears gorgeous corsets and what have you, a girl after me own 'eart. I have so much new music right now, so much good music I could go on about it for hours.
Been DVRing Wimbledon every day, found myself only watching the men... the girls all annoy me with their endless squeks, yelps, and grunts.
Hoping to do some jewelry making tomorrow... maybe some sheep earrings since they're simple and already designed.
Finally got back to doing Wii Fit today, after '196 days' of not going near it, though I did stuff independantly so I'm not a total sack of unflexed muscle, anyway it kicked my ass, I did a... 1.25 hour workout including yoga, and this after going to Death Guild (no lovely Davey Havok this time, alas) last night and dancing in my huge platform goth boots... ugh, but hula hooping in Wii Fit to And One was super fun.
I swear I need someone to manage me from day to day, tell me what to do make sure I do it. My lack of work ethic is amazing. Even when I do things I either don't finish them or don't take pictures which I really want to do with everything I work on.

Guy De Maupassant quote.

'Now when beliefs are unreasonable one should have all or none at all. I myself am a Freethinker; I revolt at all the dogmas which have invented the fear of death, but I feel no anger toward places of worship, be they Catholic Apostolic, Roman, Protestant, Greek, Russian, Buddhist, Jewish, or Mohammedan. I have a peculiar manner of looking at them and explaining them. A place of worship represents the homage paid by man to "The Unknown." The more extended our thoughts and our thoughts become, the more The Unknown diminishes, and the more the paces of worship will decay. I, however, in the place of church furniture, in place of pulpits, reading desks, altars, and so on would fit them up with telescopes, microscopes, and electrical machines; that is all. ' - My Uncle Sosthenes by Guy De Maupassant
It's so nice to read something written in the Victorian age that is supporting of my own beliefs. Especially among a group of short stories I'm growing to love more and more. I wish everyone would read these, or anything by Guy De Maupassant.
Good wine pleases me greatly, it's so nice to have a glass before bed while reading... when I meet a man who shares these loves I will be truly content.
Stay tuned, real update at some later date.

A proper entry because I'm in the mood for it.

First entry not containing pictures of any real thoughts other than about myself.
Things are rather decent with me, nothing new to report. Still single and under -achieving as ever, but actually actively taking better care of my body, exercising, almost every day, and mostly content with life, though I have fallen to the darkside and picked up a romance novel, but I got it because the main character's name is Arion which was eerie, given my screen name (and cheesy, but damn good since I was like 12 vampire story) being TheVampireAirion for years until RandomPrefect, and plus he's really a unicorn, so seriously like a bad sci-fi channel movie in book form and without lesbians
Artistically I think I'm doing rather well, leaning heavily towards ceramics as a chosen medium, along with jewelry, but since both those take money to set up outside of school I'm looking into print making/ silk screening, I still adore painting but no one will ever care for my style, no matter how much I develop it, not in the real art world. So just trying to learn everything that I'm interested in and still not working towards a degree. Also I'm finally around people whose abilities I admire and yet they take interest in my work, so nice to finally get some sort of... well respect, even if its small.
Still no driver's license though I can drive just fine I hate it, eventually, probably this summer, I'll get a damn license.
On the relationship side of things I still hate having no emotional support or succor, and miss physical love desperately, but the past few months I've been feeling remarkably content alone, more than ever in my life (I'm weird and romantic and my greatest desire in life has been love, since probably age 7). Just don't know how to, can't seem to, meet anyone, but whatever, so it goes.
Still filling my time with tv/movies, reading more than I was for a while. Finishing With Nails which is fabulous for a movie/actor geek.
Debating whether or not to treck to Chicago in November for a Doctor Who convention, including Paul McGann... leaning heavily towards not going, a) POOR and b) still have this thing where I don't want to meet people I adore, but secretly I want to kid nap them and have a lovely tea party with them.
OH! Riff Trax did Twilight, finally, about 10 minutes into that movie all I could think of was "Riff Trax, now, do it' and then 'Carlisle and Jasper are kind of hot...'. If you don't know Riff Trax, check them out.
Also I got a twitter reply from Michael Sheen about him quoting Withnail & I... geek swoon.
This entry is truly how skitso and point jumpingly odd my brain works at full speed, when not ennuied or melancholied. Get me going at 3 am sometime, it's endlessly pathetic and amusing.
Poirot time, before I keep going on for another five paragraphs of nonsense.

More ceramic work.

Ceramics seem to be the only things I'm finishing and photographing these days. Soon I'll photograph some jewelry I've been making and finish up some paintings. Maybe.
First a piggy bank shaped like a human heart.
A skull inkwell, or a skull box.

And finally Morpheus in progress, he's at home with me over spring break.I'm starting to feel positively Pygmalion about this project.

Ceramic things.

This is the mermaid shell thing I'm making in ceramics. I'm almost done with it, and it's the first time I've really sculpted anything in clay. My teacher wants to put it into the C.O.M. exhibit for the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Arts in Davis.

Also, button eyes.
I made five of the smaller ones, but I want to make a set of coasters from the medium (because the dinner plate sized one is the large) sized ones.

Skullllll!

He's going to be an inkwell, and I'm calling him Murray.

15 March, 2009

I think my computer's colour is off, or wiki has a poor colour representation, or Winsor & Newton has consistently fucked up their batches of Alizarin Crimson. I'm going with wiki, I think they used the colour of rose madder and not the synthetic stronger version of rose madder which is alizarin crimson them being the same thing in essence, because Winsor & Newton are (some of) my gods.
Also I am sad because I didn't know it was a 'fugitive pigment', hopefully no one looks at my paintings in some years. At least they won't deteriorate as much or as quickly as J.M.W. Turner's, his impetuousness, regarding paint, is astounding. Had a genuis for light all the same and I can't wait to see his work in person, also Botticelli again, not even touching on everything else, oh my darlings, so far away in England. Soon though, for a little time I get to be with them. (Yes I have more affection for art/artefacts than people, I don't have to figure out relations with them, and they will always be there, beautiful and eternal.)
I went to the SF Symphony tonight and the last piece they did was a suite compiled from Shostakovich's opera Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District, it was absolutely wonderful, the conductor, who put together the suite, took the time to explain which elements were what characters and which point of the story. Now I'm dying to see the opera.
I need to go to a museum, I need to be with my old dead darlings, that is a good way of describing them. Also I need to finish my damn paintings, and read.
This is totally useless information and probably confusing to everyone but me.

Teusday, Wednesday break my heart.

First ceramics project I finished so far. The inside's glaze came out a little inconsistent but It looks kind of bloody so I approve. I sort of like that it's utterly imperfect, the heart beat is erratic, and the glaze got banged up before firing.

One of the girls in my class asked if I was married today because of my rings, it amused me. A guy would have to be pretty cheap to buy those rings I made for his fiance, sterling silver, real extravagant.
Also look a scarab I made.

BAFTAs and Coraline

BAFTAs:
  1.  Michael Sheen is looking terribly adorable, yet more attractive, with his longer than usual curly hair, and I can't stop seeing him as the Chesire Cat, his smile is perfect for it.
  2. Terry Gilliam is awesome and has been given a nice chunk of metal for it. Plus he set up an amazing pun.
  3. Jonathan Pryce was brilliant at presenting said chunk of metal.
  4. Fucking BAFTAs ignored Hellboy 2, I hate them for it. I only wanted recognition for the visual artistry of it, I don't expect Best Film or Actor or anything like that, I know I'm in a minority for loving the story, direction, and acting. BUT the visuals, make-up, production, costume...sigh.
Quick Coraline:
  1. Beautifully done.
  2. Useless annoying changes, only two  or three that really irk me, adding annoying character and dumbing Coraline down, I think, and omitting certain motivations for Coraline and little things like that.
  3. I'm so making an Other Mother costume for Halloween. Must figure out some good button eyes.
Just a quick word on The Grammys, I still hate America's popular musical taste, a lot, Adelle winning was nice, Blink 182's comment on the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder playing together was most amusing.

27 January, 2009

There are times during which I seriously lament the fact that I can never become a vampire and have all the time in the world to read, learn, and create, while staying young. Also I'm deeply upset by the fact that I'm not a savant or genius and lack and amazing innate skills.
I wish I could invest myself thoroughly into every idea I have, every interest, but there is just so much I dream of, the knowledge that I can never achieve it all towers over me and creates this shadow of hopeless laziness.
I did finally make a terribly Baroque item out of clay. Let the puns flow.
I inadvertently recreated the gates of Heaven from Lucifer in the form of a brass "pierced piece" on Friday in my Jewelry Making class. First piece I've ever sawed out of metal.

I think my left iPod ear bud has a cricket living in it.
The list of random churches I want to visit is growing... and now reaching into Belgium, mind you these are just the ones I know by name.
Also:
Picasso wasted his immense talent on abstract art. There are very few things that redeem him in my eyes for this, Guernica and his ceramics heading the list.

19 January, 2009

VNV Nation remix of Miss Murder, the one I've been looking for? Blaqk Audio remix? The Cure and Alkaline Trio remixes? Why yes I do love all of those bands. Thank you Underworld Rise of The Lycans.
This is the first soundtrack, I mean songs and not score by the way, I've downloaded since Queen of The Damned...bad vampire movies with awesome actors in supporting roles seem to have a certain hold on my heartstrings.

Thirteen at Dinner

A month or two back I started watching the David Suchet Poirot mysteries. I decided to watch them in the order that the books were written since I was having trouble finding them in series order, Thirteen at Dinner was one of the few I couldn't find with David Suchet, Peter Ustinov plays Poirot but oddly enough David Suchet is in it as another detective, Inspector Japp. It was endlessly amusing to watch my favourite Poirot playing an average English Inspector against a different Poirot. I don't think Peter Ustinov was that good as Poirot, he had moments but not enough. I was very disappointed by the portrayal of Hastings, he was rather slow witted and seemed kind of useless. Bill Nighy was one of the suspects and he was wonderful, and looked so young I was very surprised.
Overall I was very disappointed, it was the only Poirot I've figured out within the first twenty minutes, plus Poirot and Hastings were very lack luster, the only upside was David Suchet and Bill Nighy being fabulous.

At Last...

I have finally given in and gotten myself a proper blog, and I will shortly begin filling it with utter nonsense.
That is all.
